The region of Passau is the city of Passau and the administrative district of Passau. Beyond that there are numerous transnational cooperation and collaborations with further communes, cities and countries. Trans-border cooperation is promoted by the special location next to the border triangle and the history of the region. This region is part of the Euroregion “Donau-Moldau”, which was established in 2012 to strengthen the region. The main aim of this Euroregion is the fruition of joint projects and purposes.

Passau belongs to the administrative region of Lower Bavaria and is the southeasternmost urban district in Bavaria. Located next to the three rivers Danube, Inn and Ilz even so close by the Bavarian Forest the region is a unique beauty-spot.
The administrative district of Passau is located in the southeast of Bavaria. 38 communes belong to the administrative district, including four cities.
Located next to the Inn the university is an idyllic place, which offers a verdant campus marginal to the historic district of Passau. The university is one of the youngest in Bavaria, but nevertheless it is one of the best universities throughout Germany what rankings regularly show.
